Celebrating Shelf Talk’s Next Chapter

Do you notice something different about the Library’s Shelf Talk blog? We’ve given it a new look and feel!

Started in 2008 by the Library’s Reader Services team, the Library’s Shelf Talk blog has served our city’s lively and diverse community of readers for 17 years.

We’ve redesigned it and updated the platform to make it more dynamic, accessible, and connected to the Library’s website and brand.

Here are some of the enhancements you might notice:

  • A mobile-friendly design with a dynamic homepage that will show rotating featured posts from a range of categories
  • Alerts about changes to Library services and hours, as we do on the the Library’s spl.org website when our services are impacted
  • A WordPress platform that is upgraded to 2025 standards

What hasn’t changed: We’ll continue posting a wide range of content from Library staff across the system about our collections, services, events, and more.

We’d love to hear your feedback. As always, let us know what you’d like to see covered on the Library’s blog! Comment here or email shelftalk@spl.org.
