Last week, the Library’s own Stesha Brandon was interviewed on KUOW’s Meet Me Here” podcast about a Very Important Topic: How to get out of a reading slump and back into a reading groove.
We’ve all had a reading slump, right? You’re reading restlessly, can’t settle in, bored of your favorite genres, looking for something new.
KUOW Book Club host Katie Campbell turned to Stesha because, as the Library’s literature and humanities program manager and board member for Seattle City of Literature, Stesha is literally always reading. So when she has a slump — and she has had them — it’s serious.
In this fun conversation, Stesha shared her perspective on whether reading certain types of books should be considered a guilty pleasure; what to do when you can’t move on from a book that you really loved; and a piece of advice that helps with any reading challenge: Remember that you’re reading for yourself.
She also shares an audiobook recommendation to help Katie out of her slump, and a reminder that Library services such as Your Next Five were designed to help everyone in Seattle get in a reading groove.
Find out all of Stesha’s tips and tricks by listening to the full “Meet Me Here” podcast.
P.S.: If one of your surefire ways to get reading again is to attend an author event, see our fall lineup on our Authors and Books calendar.
