An Ode to Almost Summer — and author Marisa de los Santos

cover of book belong to meIt’s almost summer. Enjoy the smell of fresh grass clippings, the taste of iced tea with lemon and mint, the feel of a lazy doze in a hammock and the pleasure of a duo of charming, literate, feel-good novels by author Marisa de los Santos. The author’s first novel, Love Walked In, describes the warm relationship between 30-something Philadelphia coffee shop manager Cornelia Brown and 11-year-old Clare, a child of divorce whose mother is quietly falling apart. This sweet uplifting story has already been optioned for a movie.

De los Santos’ second novel, Belong to Me, follows Cornelia and her new husband as they leave the city for the suburbs and Cornelia, at first lonely, soon becomes entangled in her new friends’ lives.
Celebrate almost-summer with these sunny novels.            ~ Susan F.

BELONG TO ME is one of my top three favorite novels read (so far!) this year! I didn’t read the author bio on the jacket flap until after I read both books, and I was not at all surprised to learn that de los Santos is a poet. She is an excellent writer, and I hope we see many, many more novels from her.
