It’s almost summer. Enjoy the smell of fresh grass clippings, the taste of iced tea with lemon and mint, the feel of a lazy doze in a hammock and the pleasure of a duo of charming, literate, feel-good novels by author Marisa de los Santos. The author’s first novel, Love Walked In, describes the warm relationship between 30-something Philadelphia coffee shop manager Cornelia Brown and 11-year-old Clare, a child of divorce whose mother is quietly falling apart. This sweet uplifting story has already been optioned for a movie.
De los Santos’ second novel, Belong to Me, follows Cornelia and her new husband as they leave the city for the suburbs and Cornelia, at first lonely, soon becomes entangled in her new friends’ lives.
Celebrate almost-summer with these sunny novels. ~ Susan F.
