The Telegraph and Yahoo News have given me nightmares for life by reporting on a story involving a giant catfish in India with a taste for human flesh. Yes, you read correctly. Catfish. Human. Flesh.
The alleged Bunyanesque catfish is also known as a goonch which have been known to appear in the Great Kali River along the India-Nepal border. Locals
believe some renegade goonch has gotten a taste for human flesh by nibbling on the remnants of bodies disposed of in the river after ritual cremation, and spends its days trolling the Great Kali River for its next nosh.
In honor of the mastodonic goonch, I have compiled a list of books and movies available at The Seattle Public Library that will satisfy your craving for underwater marvels:
- Incident at Loch Ness [videorecording]

- 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
- The Adventures of Aquaman [videorecording]
- Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Creatures of the Deep by Mike Everhart
- Sigmund and the Sea Monsters [videorecording]
- Sea Dragons: Predators of the Prehistoric Oceans by Richard Ellis
