The Library’s April programs offer previews of ballet and opera, and a live music concert. All programs are in the Microsoft Auditorium, First Floor, Central Library.
Pacific Northwest Ballet Preview: Kent Stowell’s Swan Lake
12– 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 7
Discover Kent Stowell’s exquisite choreography and Tchaikovsky’s beautifully expressive music in a preview of Pacific Northwest Ballet’s April production of Swan Lake. Popular speaker Doug Fullington will offer insights into the ballet in this informal lecture which includes videorecorded ballet excerpts. Portions of the 1895 St. Petersburg production retained in Kent Stowell’s Swan Lake will be included in the lecture.
The Ladies Musical Club Opera Presents
A Free Lunchtime Concert

Come and brighten up your lunch hour with a free concert presented by the
musicians of the Ladies Musical Club. The program will include:
Music for oboe by John Williams, William Grant Still, Gerald Finzi and Seattle composer Mary Rhoads, performed by Gail Perstein with Roberta Diesner, piano.
Piano music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Claude Debussy, performed by Jessica Stevens.
Seattle Opera Preview: Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro
12 – 1 p.m., Thursday, April 30
Join us for an informative and entertaining lecture on Seattle Opera’s upcoming production of Mozart’s comic masterpiece, The Marriage of Figaro, presented by Seattle Opera staff. The lecture will include recorded excerpts from the score. We found an interesting discussion on the production between General Director Speight Jenkins and Education Director Perry Lorenzo via the Seattle Opera’s own blog.
