Urban Self-Reliance Series at the Capitol Hill Library

These days, living in the city is about sustainability and self-reliance: using less and doing more. In response, the Capitol Hill Library will be hosting a series of programs that will focus on practical, sustainable and affordable urban living. These free DIY workshops will help you learn how to grow and preserve your own food, organize your personal finances, get around the city in healthy and economical ways, and launch a small community project with a neighborhood grant!

Thursday, Sep. 23 Home Canning and Food Preservation 6 – 8 p.m.
Thursday, Sep. 30 Setting Financial Goals and Creating a Budget 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 9 Basic Bicycle Maintenance Workshop 1 – 4 p.m.

  1. This is super-de-duper awesome. I’m going to tell everyone I know, and I’m going to try to make it to some of these. What a great program- many thanks to those who put it together!!

  2. …and such a natural thing for the public library to do. “Squeezing every last drop of free goodness from your library” would be a good course in this series. (-:
