There are a lot of wonderful things to say about the Swedish author Torgny Lindgren. However, we don’t have room here, and so I will simply say that Mr. Lindgren is the greatest living novelist. Of course that is only my opinion; others might suggest prolific writers such as James Patterson, Joyce Carol Oates, or John Irving. Well, I avoid those types of suggesters at parties and I am at the computer keyboard now and I say, and strongly believe, that Torgny Lindgren is the greatest living novelist.
He has written a series of three nearly perfect novels beginning in the mid-nineties which have been translated into English. They are Light, Sweetness, and Hash. While not technically a series, the settings are all in northern Sweden. However, they do not share characters. The characters in all three novels are low-key and yet completely outrageous.
