The Capitol Hill Branch proudly welcomes Winter’s Bone author Daniel Woodrell
for a reading on Monday, October 10th at 6:30 p.m. Described by reviewers as “the most overlooked great novelist in America” and a “backcountry Shakespeare,” Woodrell writes in a style he calls “country noir.” His works have been described by such adjectives as “memorable,” “poetic,” “gritty,” “authentic,” and “brilliant”. Five of his nine titles have been selected as New York Times Notable Books of the Year. A newly-released omnibus of three of his earlier works, The Bayou Trilogy, was one of President Obama’s summer reads.
His newest book, The Outlaw Album, will be released in early October, and is a collection of short stories. Copies of some of his titles will be available for purchase and signing at the reading, courtesy of the University Bookstore.
