    I don’t remember the title offhand, but there is a wonderful memoir of 2 young men who rode bikes from California to the AYP, working in the fields on the way up so they would have the entrance fee when they got here. I know the book was in SPL in 2009, the AYP 100th anniversary, when a group of cyclists replicated the trip (though they probably had a sag wagon!).

    Are you thinking of Two Wheels North? An amazing story, and such a good book. I’d forgotten about the cyclists replicating it. That’s a pretty neat story, too.
