Romantic Wednesdays: Even More Hot Reads for Cold, Wet Nights

It may be warm-ER but it still isn’t exactly toasty around here. And then there’s all that lovely, chilly rain to contend with…

To keep warm on those damp, cold nights, I have a selection of paranormally hot reads to warm you up!

ascension by caris roaneIf vampires are hot right now, then flying vampires must be even hotter, right? No, I don’t mean they turn into bats, I mean vampires with angel wings! In Caris Roane’s Guardians of Ascension series, the good vampires are winged warriors, and the bad ones are death vamps. The first book in the series, Ascension, is all about the love of an immortal warrior and a woman whose touch brings death. Instead, they save each other as they battle together to help the Earth ready for its “ascension” to a higher state of being.

first grave on the right by darynda jonesDarynda Jones has created a heroine who is funny, sexy and mysterious in Charley Davidson. We meet Charley in First Grave on the Right. The slightly tongue-in-cheek title is totally apt because Charley doesn’t just see dead people, her job is to help them “go into the light”, whether they want to go or not. There’s a dark entity in Charley’s life who might be dead, might be something else altogether, but definitely keeps trying to seduce our heroine—in between saving her life and protecting her from the forces that plan to use her to get to him. Whatever he is.

witchling by yasmine galenornThe Otherworld series by Yasmine Galenorn is the tale of the three D’Artigo sisters; half-human, half-faerie operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency whose mission on our supposedly non-magical side of the Earth/Faery divide is to investigate enemies of the Faerie Court who have infiltrated our world. As the series progresses, the story of each sisters’ quite tumultuous love life mixes well with the intrigues they uncover. Their story starts with Witchling.

darkest night by gena showalterThere’s the Otherworld, and then there’s the Underworld. In Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series, a group of immortal warriors have been hosting the spirits of everything destructive in human nature for millennia. They are the living embodiment of all the bad things in Pandora’s Box. But one by one, Disaster, Death, Pain, Wrath and Lies find women who can love them in spite of, or sometimes because of, the dark side of their natures. In the series opener, The Darkest Night, the warrior who shares his soul with Violence finds a woman who can give him a measure of peace.
