I’m a huge fan of brunch because it combines some of my favorite things; sleeping in, booze before noon, and breakfast food! Plus everyone loves brunch too, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to booze with friends in a relaxing environment. Since my late night days are long behind me, I can brunch and have the rest of the day to do what I please…and still go to bed at a responsible time. I really think Brunch was invented for thirty year olds!
I give you books on brunch and a few of my favorite brunch locales:
Brunch @ Bobby’s: 140 Recipes for the Best Part of the Weekend by Bobby Flav
There is not a recipe in this book that doesn’t have my mouth watering! Bananas Foster French Toast…Biscuit Sticky Buns…Tomato Strata…the list goes on!
TRY: Essential Baking Company for their strata!
Let’s Do Brunch: Mouth-Watering Meals to Start Your Day
Simple and easy, this book covers the basics: granola, croissants, classic omelet, and much more. It’s a no-fuss cook book; there’s nothing wrong with keeping brunch simple!
TRY: Countryside Café for their omelets!
The Ginger & White Cookbook
by Tonia George, Emma Scott, and Nicholas Scott
Decadent, elegant, yet easy to make recipes. The book is beautiful to boot! From London inspired brunch and lunch, like Garlic and fennel Slow-roasted Pork Buns with apple sauce, garlic mayo and mini frittata recipes, to sweet treats like Rhubarb and Almond Crumble Cake.
TRY: Dirty Oscar’s Annex for their Smoked Pork Hash!
The Auntie Em’s Cookbook: A Musician’s Guide to Breakfast and Brunch by Theresa C. Wahl
What I loved most about this cookbook is that it was organized by season. Since moving out on my own I’ve been lucky to always reside next to a farmer’s market: Ballard, West Seattle, and now Broadway in Tacoma, so I loved this concept. And a cute added extra, each recipe comes with a song; while eating your Pear and Ginger Baked French Toast listen to Real Smiles by White Fence!
TRY: Easy Street for their James Browns!
