Get Ready for Tinkerlab!

tinkerlab

Tinkerlab is back at Delridge Library! We had a successful spring season and with many patrons requesting its return we have scheduled some dates for the fall. In case you haven’t heard about it yet, Tinkerlab is a weekly all-ages STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focused program teaching 21st century skills like critical thinking, technological fluency, creativity, problem-solving and computational thinking.

In the spring, Tinkerlab featured fun projects including: Mars Rover 3D, Perfect Paper Airplane, Tangrams, LED Keychain, Marshmallow Engineering, Paper Strength, Keva Building Challenge, Thaumatropes, Candy Chromatography, Cubelets Robot Construction Kits, Stick Bombs, Kinetic Energy Carousel, and Chibi Lights. Check out some of the photos:

Beginning Monday, October 3 from 6-7:30 pm, we’ll kick off the series with a program called “Ecosystems”. Based off The Lorax, participants will work together to construct a game in order to conserve the Truffula forest while still consuming it at an appropriate rate, to produce thneeds. Should be enlightening!

Other projects for the upcoming season include the return of Cubelets & Tangrams, as well as new activities like LittleBits, Future Fashion, Three Little Pigs Science, and Stop Motion Animation. For more detail about these events, check out our calendar. Registration is NOT required; drop in any time! We also welcome participants to suggest activity ideas, so send them our way
