We’re adding ten new titles to Peak Picks for February!
Fiction features two family sagas: estranged siblings reunite over their mother’s death in Charmaine Wilkerson’s debut Black Cake, and Lan Samantha Chang returns after a dozen years with a fresh spin on The Brothers Karamazov in The Family Chao. Nina de Gramont reimagines what happened to Agatha Christie during her famous 11-day disappearance in The Christie Affair, while Julie Otsuka explores the lives of four women whose daily aquatic routine is interrupted by a crack in the pool in The Swimmers. And romance fans will be swept away by the star-crossed lovers at the heart of Alana Quintana Albertson’s Ramón and Julieta.

For nonfiction, Daniel Pink reveals how looking backward actually moves us forward in The Power of Regret, while Arthur C. Brooks helps readers avoid decline and find happiness in the second half of life in From Strength to Strength. Colin McCrate and Brad Halm of the Seattle Urban Farm Company give gardeners the tools to make any vegetable garden productive in Grow More Food, and Spokane-based Kumiko Love – aka The Budget Mom – gives women the resources to combat financial insecurity in My Money, My Way. Finally, cultural critic Chuck Klosterman takes a look back at the “waning days of offline culture” in The Nineties: A Book.
