Teens in Love

February is a great time to find new love, and new books to love.  Here are some fantastic new teen titles focusing on teen romance.

In Blackout, six fabulous Black authors weave a romance in six different parts, all beginning with a citywide blackout.

In the free-verse novel Only on the Weekends by Dean Atta, London teen Mack is surprised and flattered to learn Karim from Egypt is attracted to him, but when Mack’s film-maker dad moves them to Glasgow, Mack’s attraction to transmasculine Finlay confuses him, and might put Karim second in his affections.

Elise Bryant’s Happily Ever Afters follows Tessa, and how her dream of becoming a romance writer almost ends when she gets a serious case of writers block.  Her friend Caroline helps her by focusing her attention on a boy in their creative writing class. But is he really the boy for her?

In One True Loves, also by Elise Bryant, Lenore is about to start college, and although she hasn’t declared a major yet, the boy she meets on a cruise with her parents gives her the start she needs with his own ten-year plan. But what if love derails both their plans?

Lark and Kasim Start a Revolution by Kacen Callender follows aspiring writer Lark’s friend Kasim, who accidentally tweets about his unrequited crush using Lark’s account.  Can Lark and Kasim figure out how to keep Kasim’s identity secret while still promoting Lark’s novel in progress?

In Becky Dean’s Love and Other Great Expectations, Britt’s soccer career comes to an end after a serious injury, and she finds a scavenger hunt in Britain is the only option open to her for a while. Can her new acquaintance Luke help her find her center, even though he can’t help with the clues?

In Some Mistakes Were Made by Kristin Dwyer, it’s been a year since Ellis betrayed her best friend and one true love, Easton, and she had to move to the West Coast. An invitation to return brings a ray of hope, but can she ever truly redeem herself?

Zyla and Kai by Kristina Forest follows Zyla, who avoids relationships because she doesn’t want to end up like her divorced, unhappy parents, and Kai, a hopeless romantic who has to avoid his ex. When Zyla and Kai meet, sparks fly. Is it any wonder the two shock their friends and family by disappearing?

In Anatomy by Dana Schwartz, scientifically-minded Hazel and her companion Jack dig up bodies in the quest for medical knowledge in 19th-century Edinburgh. Will the time they spend together – and away from the viscount she is engaged to – lead to something more?

Nic Stone’s Chaos Theory follows Shelbi, a certified genius who has trouble making friends. Andy, the son of a politician, has serious addiction issues. Can the two of them help each other and grow?
