One of the squares in our 2023 Adult Book Bingo challenge is “Chosen by the Cover.” While it is common advice to avoid judging a book by its cover, I have to admit that I love—and can rarely resist—a beautiful book cover. Here are some of my favorite reads that also happen to have a great cover.
Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
After Daunis witnesses a murder, she goes undercover to help solve the crime and protect her community. (Boulley’s new book, Warrior Girl Unearthed, is currently a Peak Pick!)
Circe by Madeline Miller
Circe’s knowledge of witchcraft leaves her banished on a deserted island, where she encounters multiple mythological beings that will change her fate.
We Are Okay Nina Lacour
Over winter break, Marin stays behind in an empty dorm room. When her best friend and ex-girlfriend visits, Marin begins to process her past.
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
When Noemi travels to help her cousin after receiving a concerning letter, there is no way she can predict the strange house–and world–she will enter, and the secrets that lie within.
Me (Moth) by Amber McBride
Moth and Sani take a road trip while searching for their own answers and healing.
The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
Clara lives amongst witches that work to keep the climate healthy. When disaster is near, Clara hopes her magical connection to all four seasons will help make a difference.
A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow
While Tavia struggles to keep her siren identity a secret, a murder trial involving a siren makes the news, changing everything.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Circus magicians wage a dangerous competition that will put love and lives at risk.
