Older Americans Month: Champion Your Health

Happy Older Americans Month! This year’s theme is Champion Your Health. At the Seattle Public Library, we work year-round to engage and connect older adults with programs and services that make a difference. Below you will find our free monthly programs and check out our calendar for all our older adult audience specific events!

Memory Café
The first Thursday of the month from 1:00-2:30 pm
Northgate Branch: 10548 5th Ave NE
Living with memory loss? You, your friends, and family are invited to this monthly, free, drop-in event
In partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation.   

Creative Chats in Community 
The second Tuesday of the month from 1:00-3:00 pm
Highpoint Neighborhood House: 6400 Sylvan Way SW
Join us for a monthly for an arts and community resource gathering event. 
In partnership with Seattle Housing Authority. 
This event will be in Somali, Vietnamese, and Khmer. 

Civic Coffee 
May 15th 10:00-11:00 am – monthly locations and dates vary
Lake City Senior Center: 12509 27th Ave NE and online
A monthly opportunity for older adults to gather, meet local government and community leaders, learn about key issues, ask questions, and provide feedback.
In partnership with Age Friendly Seattle. 

Books and Beats
The third Wednesday of the month from  2:30-4:00 pm
The Memory Hub: 1021 Columbia St
A book group for caregivers and a music group for people with memory loss. 
In partnership with UW Memory Hub

End-of-life Planning classes
The third Wednesday of the month  5:00-6:30 pm
Capitol Hill Branch: 425 Harvard Ave E and online  
Join us for an end-of-life planning workshop for those with dementia and their loved ones.
In Partnership with Worry-Free Wednesdays.

Medicare Made Clear 
The fourth Tuesday of the month from 5:30-6:30 pm
Northeast Branch: 6801 35th Ave NE and online 
Everything you need to know about Medicare!
In Partnership with Jean Cormier Insurance.
