Fantasy is a genre of fiction that usually conjures up images of wizards battling dragons or beautiful maidens riding unicorns. While these are common elements in many fantasy novels, they are by no means the only ones. Fantasy novels run the gamut from hints of magic popping up in urban settings to entire worlds where all the rules are different from the ones we know. Because of this flexibility in the genre, there is a book out there for almost every reader. And to help you find something that you will enjoy we now start our newest reading checklist- Fantasy.
You can, of course, combine your Fantasy Checklist reading with your Book Bingo accomplishments!
For those who are already very familiar with the fantasy genre, you will be aware that it does not lend itself to strict definitions. Many Gaslamp stories also feature romance and magical beasts can pop up in urban fantasy. And our list is not exhaustive of all the possibilities either. This checklist is merely a jumping off point to help readers delve into the extraordinary world of fantasy.
Here is a link to the Fantasy Checklist. You can print it out and keep track of your progress or just keep it as a reminder of all the possibilities that are out there. Every week there will be a post featuring a new fantasy subgenre. Children’s fantasy books will kick things off tomorrow. Look for new posts on Wednesdays, and enjoy the adventures to come!
